Kazuma Sakamoto (坂本 数馬 Sakamoto Kazuma) is the brother of Sue Sakamoto and one of the scientists brought to the island to research its inhabitants. He is the first character to appear in the game, seen on a computer attempting to contact Sue.

History

Quote saves Kazuma in the Bushlands by planting a bomb in front of the stuck door of Kazuma's shelter.

Speaking to him after passing through the Egg Corridor the second time gives Quote his first option on determining one of the game's three endings when he asks Quote if he would like to escape the island. If he says no, Kazuma is shown in the second ending riding a Sky Dragon where he rescues Sue and Quote from their fall.

Trivia

• When asked to leave with Kazuma, saying "YES" does not trigger the bad ending. Only by speaking to Kazuma outside do both Quote and him hop onto the dragon and fly away. This is a common tactic used by speedrunners to skip Kazuma's monologue.
• Kazuma's Halloween Costume is based on Jason Voorhees, the main antagonist of the horror franchise Friday the 13th.
