Remastered[]

The soundtrack was later remastered by indie game music writer Danny Baranowsky and Dustin Kulwicki. It contains remastered/remade music pieces from the original soundtrack, with mainly electronic instrumentation. This soundtrack was used for Cave Story 3D, and was also included as the default soundtrack for Cave Story+.

Cave Story+[]

This is an arrangement of the soundtrack by Yann van der Cruyssen, used as the default soundtrack in the WiiWare and Switch versions. Some criticisms include straying too far away from the classic melodies, lack of bass, and weird pitch and looping in the tracks[citation needed]. However, according to the website Tiny Cartridge, these problems were due to improper editing on the game tester's part. Yann himself has also lamented the final version of the soundtrack in a TIGForums post. This soundtrack is included as an optional soundtrack for Cave Story+ on Steam, and as an optional soundtrack for the Wiiware version (in the Wiiware version it is selected as the default soundtrack on start up). The MIDI masters of all Cave Story+ tracks can be found here (or a earlier version here with minute differences and can be considered a mirror). You need the Cave Story.dls soundfont for the tracks to sound correct.

Famitracks[]

A cover of the original Cave Story soundtrack made to sound like something on a NES made by RushJet1. Optional soundtrack in Cave Story+.

Ridiculon[]

This is an arrangement composed by metal band Ridiculon for Cave Story+ on the Nintendo Switch. These tracks feature heavy guitar and drums. It's interesting to note Ridiculon also preformed the soundtrack for four other indie games, The End is Nigh, Super Meat Boy, The Binding of Isaac and The Legend of Bum-Bo.
